Reason #3467 why Macs are better than Windows PCs
All I did was plug the included DVI video cable that came with the monitor into the ATI9000 video card. Windows saw it as the Samsung 240T monitor, I selected the 1920x1200, it did it. No adjustments required. -- Remember when real men used Real computers!? When 512K of video RAM was a lot!

Raje Raje.1pgipc@ microsoft public windowsxp hardware If your monitor could it would say, "Frequency Out of Range." On a lot of these new LCD monitors you cannot properly see safe mode because the resolution is actually too low for the monitor. You would have to enable VGA mode to use safe mode.

Does anyone know why Comcast (Los Angeles area) can't output video through DVI? Comcast uses the Motorola DTC5100 converter and it does have DVI output. I tried the DVI connection to my HDTV but there's no video signal. Currently the converter and my TV is connected via component video cables.

Hi Casey & Garglemonster, I'm also considering this card, since it seems the only Open Source DVI video card without a fan. If anyone knows any others, let us know! (At *any* price) The ATI FireGL 2, 8700 and 8800 looked interesting, but ATI told me the drivers are closed source, so that's no good.

New monitors with old Macs (and vice versa)?
My monitor light shows green, meaning it is getting video signal. But the screen is black. If I switch cables to svga and boot in Safe Mode, I get regular VGA video on my monitor. Anyone know why there is no non-black video signal in Safe Mode with DVI output? Any way to fix? Windows XP Pro, sp2.

It is not a true comparison between component and DVI video. The DLP micro mirror either directs the light toward display screen or directs the light away Its no wonder that the analog video looked bad. These two extra stages are not required by the DLP display if the video is maintained in the digital domain.

This card supports DVI and VGA SIMULTANEOUSLY. Dual monitor capable. Also has on board DVD decoding. Works with NT and 2000 as well as Linux ( no dual screen though). If you going FPD and it has a digital port then get this card. As for DVI cables the Belkin 10' ones can be had for about $32 (dual density pinning).
